This
part, with intricate embossment, requires high
tonnage. The complex flow of material in the forming
operation creates stresses. We refinished the tooling
to provide a defect-free product. Tearing was reduced
from nearly 100% to virtually zero. A striker was
added to the tooling to eliminate curvature in
the part. |

This
assembly was pressed from 12 & 14 gauge 304
stainless steel. Processes
used included blanking, forming, welding, press-
fitting, and passivating.
This was previously a spun part and press forming reduced
the cost by 15%.
